Amazon Listing Reinstatement Case Study: How We Fixed an “Active” ASIN That Customers Couldn’t Buy
Category: Amazon Catalog Management | Naveen Vyas, Sr. Catalog Specialist – Xneeti | 4 min read
Seller Central said the SKU was active. The product page said “Currently Unavailable.” For eight months, both were true, and the client was losing every sale that page should have made.
Here’s how we traced the problem to a hidden compliance flag, got Amazon to clear it, and what you can do if one of your listings is stuck the same way.
| Case snapshot | |
| Marketplace | Amazon US |
| Issue | SKU active in Seller Central, detail page showing “Currently Unavailable” |
| Pending since | January 2026 |
| Root cause | Compliance flag left behind after a recall restriction was lifted |
| Result | Listing buyable again, inbound shipments unblocked, no relisting needed |
What was the problem?
The ASIN had been blocked earlier because of a recall-related compliance flag. When the restriction was lifted, Amazon reinstated several related ASINs from the brand, but this one was accidentally left out.
From the seller’s side, nothing looked wrong:
The SKU showed as Active in Seller Central with no errors or warnings.
The product detail page still showed “Currently Unavailable.”
The seller couldn’t send in more inventory.
Repeated Seller Support cases went nowhere, because every check said the listing was fine.
Why do these listings stay stuck?
Some blocks live in Amazon’s internal catalog and compliance systems, not in the seller’s dashboard. Front-line support often can’t see them either, so cases loop through the same answer. The usual suggestion, deleting and relisting, rarely helps and can throw away the listing’s reviews and sales history.
How did Xneeti fix it?
The case came to our team in early September 2026. We treated it as an investigation rather than another ticket:
Ruled out everything visible. We re-ran Amazon’s recommended checks so support couldn’t send the case back on a basic step.
Documented the contradiction. Active SKU, no errors, but an unavailable page and blocked shipments, backed by screenshots and the recall and reinstatement history.
Kept one case open and escalated. We followed up consistently and pushed for a review by the catalog and compliance teams.
Refused the quick fix. We didn’t delete and relist, so the listing’s history stayed intact.
Amazon eventually confirmed the ASIN had been left out of the earlier reinstatement, and a leftover compliance flag was still blocking the offer. They cleared it, and the listing became buyable again.
What were the results?
An issue open since January 2026 was resolved.
The listing was buyable again and the seller could restock.
The compliance flag was cleared at the source.
The original listing, with its reviews and ranking history, was preserved.
Is your listing stuck? Quick checklist
Check Account Health for any past recall, safety, or compliance action on the ASIN, even resolved ones.
Compare it with related ASINs. If those were restored and this one wasn’t, say so in your case.
State the contradiction clearly in one support case, with screenshots, and ask for escalation.
Don’t delete and relist until the real cause is found.
Conclusion
A listing that looks active but can’t sell is easy to miss and expensive to ignore. Fixing it takes clear evidence and the persistence to keep a case open until the real cause is found.
